Netball: Bunbury netball talent Susan Fuhrmann has been selected as a goal keeper for the Australian Netball 21 Squad.
She impressed selectors with her outstanding performances for West Coast Fever in the Trans-Tasman Competition.
“I received the news on my email on July 30 and I was really surprised and definitely excited about this opportunity,” Fuhrmann said.
It is the second time the former South West Jet has been selected in the side.
Fuhrmann will play tests against England and New Zealand and will train along with the girls from Fever while she is in WA.
Her strong court presence and commanding defensive pressure has been a stand out feature of her game.
“I am a defender and I need to be intimidating, being tall and strong helps a lot,” she said.
Fuhrmann said she loved the South West and knows how hard it is for people who live in the country to reach their goals.
“It takes more dedication and discipline to go where you want to go,” she said.
Fuhrmann and Kate Beveridge who plays for Adelaide Thunderbirds were the only WA players to be selected for this year’s squad.
Their first test will be against England in Newcastle on October 4.
