BUILDING heights and the amount of open space on the Bunbury waterfront are being revisited by LandCorp in the wake of community objections over the past few months.
LandCorp business manager Dale Page said while the concerns were being addressed, the department would still meet its project objectives.
She did not elaborate on the extent of concessions, saying it would be premature as the City of Bunbury was now assessing the feelings of Bunbury residents expressed during the advertising period.
“However, LandCorp has been listening to the comments received from some quarters of the community and is already investigating what changes could be made to the plan,” Ms Page said.
“LandCorp is investigating the options of reducing heights and/or relocating taller elements away from the waterfront edge to other sites within the Eastside precinct area.”
Ms Page said people should remember the current concepts before council came about after extensive investigation into all factors of the project, including economic, social and environmental concerns.
In a working session last month, councillors put their individual views forward and what they perceived the community’s concerns to be to LandCorp’s executive team and board.
In the current Eastside Structure Plan, some of the proposed buildings are planned to include a single taller ‘icon’ element as demonstrated in the sketch above.
